Description: |
In order to have the worlds finest and safest race course, the Speedways track was paved with bricks, an expensive and time-consuming process. Cars speed through the first turn on the newly paved track in this May 1910 photo, which also depicts the nine-inch-thick concrete retaining walls and bleachers filled with spectators. |
