Panoramic View of the Town of West Baden Springs, Indiana

Description: Panoramic view of the town of West Baden Springs as seen from the front lawn of the West Baden Springs Hotel.
Two enduring Orange County structures that became the current-day French Lick Springs Hotel and the West Baden Springs Hotel were built in 1845 and 1855, respectively. With increased tourism to the area at the end of the 19th century both hotels were rebuilt at the turn of the 20th century. Having gone into a state of disrepair, the buildings were rescued and restored by William, Gayle, and Carl Cook. The French Lick Springs Hotel reopened in 2006 and the West Baden Springs Hotel followed in 2007. The hotels resurgence has been bolstered by a renewal of the areas tourism based economy. It is propelled by the recent opening of a gambling casino. Bicentennial Train Image
