Description: |
During WWI the U.S. Government raised money for the war effort by the sale of Liberty Bonds. Rallies were held across the country with patriotic appeals to promote the bonds. Grant County citizens gathered in the town square for this bond rally around 1918. A man is speaking on the steps in front of the Grant County courthouse while the Navy band seated behind him prepares to play for the crowd. This image is a preservation copy made from an unstable original nitrate negative. |
