Sheridans Ride

Description: Sheridans ride portrayed here occurred October 19, 1864 following a surprise attack by the Confederates on Union troops. His inspirational arrival stopped the retreat of Union soldiers and helped form the counterattack that forced the Confederates to flee. The ride was immortalized in the poem Sheridans Ride by T. Buchanan Read.
