Birds Eye View of Batesville, Indiana

Description: Laid out in 1852 by Joshua Bates, a railroad engineer and surveyor, Batesville grew up along the railroad line. Timber in the area attracted buyers and craftsmen, mostly Germans from Cincinnati, and they began Batesville’s primary industry of woodworking.
