Main Business Street, Carlisle, Indiana

Description: Carlisle, the first settlement in Sullivan County, was settled by James Ledgerwood in 1803. It was platted in 1815 and named either for Carlisle, Pennsylvania, former home of some of its settlers, or for the Ledgerwood ancestral home in England.
