Newton County Courthouse, Kentland, Indiana

Description: The Newton County Courthouse, a Neoclassical-style buff brick and limestone structure, was completed in 1906 at a cost of $30,525. Joseph T. Hutton of Hammond, Indiana, was the architect, and Eric Lund the contractor. It replaced the first courthouse that was built in 1861. Kentland is one of a handful of county seats in the state that isn’t in the central portion of the county.
