Public Square, Oxford, Indiana

Description: The first settler to the area, Judge David J. McConnell, arrived in 1834, but the town was not platted until 1843 when it was chosen to be the county seat. It was first named Milroy, then Hartford, and finally Oxford. In 1873 the seat of justice was moved to Fowler.
