Groups

Description: These photographs are of groups of two or more people. The images are primarily from WWI, WWII, and the Korean Conflict, with a few dating from the early 1960s and one photo of WWI veterans taken at a 1975 Armistice Day event. A large number of the photos are of groups of men who are about to leave for service. These groups typically met at the courthouse early in the morning, and after first being checked in by the Selective Service board, they would pose for a group photo before boarding a bus to their destination. These photos typically appeared in the local newspaper. Other images include servicemen and women receiving awards or medals, group photos of brothers serving together, men on leave, etc. There are also four images of a 1940s Corydon storefront that displayed a large collection of photographs of local men and women who were currently in the service.
