Francis Wright of New Harmony, 1824. “When I read history and am impressed with any great deed, I feel as if I should like to see the woman who is concealed behind it as its secret incentive.”—Heinrich Heine.”[A free-thinking writer, feminist, abolitionist, and social reformer, Wright had strong ties to Robert Dale Owen of New Harmony, Indiana, and was a frequent contributor to the New Harmony Gazette.]
