Lumber dealers and sawmill operators Oscar Eisenmenger (left) and Harry Conrad stand next to a truck with a large log chained to the truck bed. The truck is parked near the Old State Capitol building in Corydon, Indiana, which can be seen in the background. The men had cut the log from an oak tree on the farm of Bennett Harper just east of Corydon. The log was ten feet long and measured 78 inches at its base. The tree supplied two additional logs as well. |
