Postcard

Description: This 1896 postcard from the Harrison County Farmers Fire Insurance Company to one of its policyholders reveals how the loss of one subscriber was covered by each member paying a portion of the cost. This postcard informs subscriber John Leigast of Bradford, Indiana, of the loss of another, Samuel C. Windell, whose home had burned. The message is from the companys treasurer, Michael Gleitz and tells Leigast how much he owes to help cover Windells claim. The shop of George H. Mathes is noted as a place where a payment can be dropped off.
