Lanesville Fire Department at quarry

Description: Members of the Lanesville Fire Department test out Franklin Townships new pumper at the Breckenridge quarry pond located about two and a half miles west of Lanesville, Indiana. The pumper cost around $5,000 and was rated at 400 gallons per minute. The men in the photo have not been identified. However, Maurice Kochert was chief of the department at the time, and Leonard Jaeggers was assistant chief. Other members were: Orlin Lieber, Charles Schweitzer, Robert Walther, Herman P. Zollman, Acy Loy, Wilfred Day, George Richmer, Ed Green, Julius Green, Byron Baker, John Ringle, Louis Ott, Maurice Prage, and Ed Jaeggers. Notice the young man swimming just next to the fire truck in the lower left corner of the photograph.
