Image Access WideTEK 25 Talk about the repetition of names of cities and towns Throughout the nation, it certainly seems that the many different or coined names should not make it necessary to repeat with a state, but Indiana has, with 4 Buena Vistas 4 Hamiltons, 3 Fairviews, 3 Georgetowns, 3 Mechanicsburgs, 3 Mt. Pleasants, 3 Salems, 3 Springfields and 48 instances where 2 places in the state have the same name. Does not mean each has a post office, but all are shown on state highway maps. Of 7 towns in Franklin County, Buena Vista, Union, Mt. Carmel, Palestine, St. Mary, Scipio and Springfield There is another town, by each of the same names, shown elsewhere in the state. - By Harold Simmons, Cuzco Ind. Tell City is known for the chairs made there with double cain seats. Established in 1865, the Fischer and Tell City companies were the first to make them in this country. Since 1900 the Tell City Chair Co., with largest capacity of any making this type, has since 1900, made 12,288,203 chairs. (No record kept from 1865 to 1900) That is one chair for every 10 persons in the U.S.A. If placed, one in front of the other The 12,288,203 would reach from Boston to Barcelona Spain.
