Description: Original caption: Miss Janet Lee Faires of Greenwood, Indiana, Queen of the 500 Festival, survived a field of 33 Princesses selected by a panel of judges. The 21-year-old elementary education major at Indiana State University reigned over a month of activities building up to the 500 Mile Race on Memorial Day. Miss Faires was the recipient of a $1,500 Borg-Warner scholarship which she will use to get her Masters from Indiana State this fall. Borg-Warner also provides her with a $250 expense check during her reign, plus a $250,000 Lloyds of London accident policy taken out on her during her reign.
