Royal blue A-line skirt. Skirt is calf length with a concealed zipper closure on the left side seam. Waistband closes at the left side with one button. Slight gathering is present at the bottom of the waistband. A-line skirt Blue (royal) Solid Calf length Natural waistline Zipper; Button Side closure (left) Gathering Currently housed in the Department of Applied Studies, this skirt belonged to Ellen Louisa Nicholson (1918-2012). Ellen graduated from Ball State University in 1941 when Ball State was known as Ball State College. She was a home economics and girls health teacher in Knightstown, Indiana and later worked at the Indiana Childrens Home. After earning her masters degree in Ohio, she returned to Ball State and worked as the Director of Dining Services. According to Ellens obituary provided through Weathers Funeral Home, in the post war years following World War II, returning veterans resulted in a large expansion of enrollment at Ball State with Ellen playing a key role in the design and building of Woodworth, Noyer, Studebaker West and East and Lafollette residence halls. She retired after 28 dedicated years of service. This archival material has been provided for educational purposes.
