1960s womens sweater

Description: Discolored white, hip length cardigan sweater trimmed with white satin binding and beadwork around the center front hook and eye closures, the cuffs, the uncollared high neckline, and the hemline. The beadwork is a combination of white pearls, white bugle beads, and pastel bugle beads (pink, blue, lavender, and green) forming floral motifs alternating with traditional Chinese Shou character motif inside the trim boarder. The sleeves are three-quarter length, and there is a side slit on each side at the hemline. The sleeves are set-in diagonal shoulder seams, also called a European shoulder seams.

The Chinese Shou character symbolizes health, longevity, and happiness.; Currently housed in the Department of Applied Business Studies, this cardigan belonged to Mrs. Angeline (Angie) Pruis (1923-2019) who was the first lady of Ball State University during her husbands (John J. Pruis, PhD) tenure as Ball State President from 1968-1978.
