This is the headstone of Othoneil J. (1831-1905) and Serilda Jane (Lawrence) (1835-1891) Huron. According to The History of Hendricks County, 1914-1976, Othoneil spent three months as the postmaster of the area that would eventually come to be known as Avon in 1852. During his time as postmaster, he named the little community White Lick. His name also appears as Othneil Hurin in some records. This photograph was taken on June 25, 2011. |
