Description: A newspaper article reporting that several grass fires were called in during a period of drought in October of 1963 and that the Avon Volunteer Fire Department had a pitch in with their families at the Avon cafeteria in which 57 people were present. Mr. McKinsey, Superintendent of the Avon Schools was a guest at the dinner. Committee members in charge of the dinner included: Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Booth, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Burdge, and Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Summerlot.
