Millie Reed - Commencement Program from Central Normal College - 1922 - 1923

Description:	Millie Frances Reed obtained from Central Normal College a 4 year college degree of A.B. This stands for Artium Baccalaureatus, which is a bachelor of arts degree, but historically the designated holder of this degree was one who rigorously studied the classical arts. Millie is also listed on the Central Normal archives as having been a graduate of an Art Supervisors course, a Music Supervisor Course, and a Standard Normal course. She was born in 1874 to William G. and Sarah A. (Larsh) Reed. She grew up in Washington Township, Hendricks County, Indiana. According to her obituary, she never married and became highly educated, owned her own art studio in Michigan for a few years, and then taught art in Indiana for many years. She died at the age of 102 in 1976 in North Salem, Hendricks County, Indiana.
