State Capital Maryland

Description: State Capital, Annapolis, Maryland. Cornerstone laid in 1772 and completed same year. Only one addition has been added on, and that was in 1886. This is the oldest state house in use today, among all other states. Many historic events have taken place in this building, such as: Washington resigning his commission to the Continental Congress on December 23, 1783. The Treaty of Peace in 1784 with England was written here, to assume our freedom from English rule. The first meeting to draft the Constitution also held here. The Continental Congress met here in 1783 and 1784. Date 06/00/1955.
