Mount Vernon - Home of George and Martha Washington, located on the Virginia side of the Potomac, fifteen miles from the U. S. Capital. Restored as in the day of Washington and many articles are the original ones used by our first president. This plantation had nearly five thousand acres during Washingtons time. The place now restored contains only four hundred acres. He died in 1799 on the second floor, second window from the left. Martha died here in 1802. Date 06/00/1955. |
