St. Peters Basilica

Description: St. Peters Basilica is the largest church in the world. The first church of St. Peter was built in 319 by order of Constantine over the tomb of St. Peter. It was consecrated in 326 by Pope Sylvester I. The church has been rebuilt and reconstructed several times. The dome, the largest in the world, was completed and decorated in 1590. Paul V then ordered the church to be lengthened and made larger. Then finally on November 18, 1626, Urban VIII consecrated the present church, 1300 years after the original consecration. The present building and work is by Moderno. Rome, Italy. Date 08/15/1952.
