Description: |
The booth was set up on the Court House square and remained there the entire week of October 8 to 14, 1950. It consisted of a building, a fire alarm box, fire fighting equipment, all types of extinguishers, fire prevention posters and signs calling attention to fire losses and their causes, a wheel of fortune that spins against you when you gamble with fire, a large elephant whose eyes blinked and who called attention to the public to NEVER FORGET FIRE PREVENTION which proved an attraction for young & old, and thousands of pieces of hand out literature. Two uniformed firemen were on hand to instruct operation of fire alarm boxes, fire extinguishers, accept requests for inspections, hand out literature and answer questions on fire prevention. Photo is from a Fire Prevention Book made in 1950. |
