Girl Scouts Rewarded During Fire Prevention Week 1950

Description: Girl Scouts Rewarded for Fire Prevention Work. William E. Morton, executive vice-president of the Anthony Wayne Bank, left, is shown above as he presented a $75 check to Miss Helen V. Shaw, executive director of the Girl Scout Council, for the efforts of the Girl Scouts in carrying out the city-wide fire inspection of all Fort Wayne dwellings during Fire Prevention Week. Captain George Hood, Fire Prevention Bureau Chief, looks on. Eight hundred intermediate Girl Scouts, and leaders under the direction of Mrs. R. C. Carpenter, one of the three field directors of the Council, participated in the program. Miss Shaw said that the $75 award will be used to buy troop camping and cooking equipment for use by intermediate and senior Girl Scouts. Photo is from a Fire Prevention Book made in 1950.
